The Sage in 2023

ED Updates, the launch of the Premed Advisory & more…

A lot has happened here at the Sage since our last post. Carolyn Herman and I have been hosting a series of free webinars for pre-med students across the country. We think of it as a drop-in session with an expert Dean of the Day, wherein students can bring all the questions they might have and we will answer them… gratis! If you know any students interested in tapping this amazing resource, please email me: zellie@thestatementsage.com. So far, we have chatted with premeds (and parents) from Creighton, UVA, Mizzou, and Yale!

Speaking of Yale, our ED/EA college applicants had a stellar fall with admits ranging from Yale, Duke, and WashU to TCU, Indiana Business (first choice) and Purdue Engineering (first choice) among many more! While the Ivies are always exciting, the most rewarding EA was undoubtedly that Purdue Engineer.

This young lady, E., came to me last June with a start on an essay and a loose statement of motivation. In the ensuing conversations and editing sessions, I helped her unpack the why of her application, moving from a dismantled bathroom sink at age 11 to a late dyslexia diagnosis to visual-spatial learning. My student restructured, revised, and built a beautiful essay. Just like the engineer that she is!

I received a note from her mom last week announcing that E. was accepted into her first-choice school in Engineering, with no standardized test scores submitted. As the mom wrote, essays can sure help!

See what we can do for your student or for you!
